For many people, having to give a speech, or talk on a podcast is an intimidating, even frightening prospect. Hypnotherapy can help you overcome that fear and give you the confidence to carry out all kinds of public speaking.
Whether you’re plagued by self-doubt, or are being held back by a years-old traumatic event, my clinical hypnotherapy and transpersonal therapy sessions can get to the root cause of the issue quickly and safely, resolving it once and for all.
I’ll give you the tools to be able to deal with all kinds of public speaking, enabling you to be your best self and move you closer to achieving your personal goals.
Everyone can be affected by public speaking anxiety
People of all ages and from all walks of life can be hit by stage fright or a fear of public speaking. Some may be afraid of being judged by their audience, while others may fixate on any mistakes they make, or worry about delivering a poor performance.
Many people, especially if they’re not used to public speaking, can feel anxious and frightened out of the blue, but for others, it has been with them for years.
Delivering a work presentation or a training course, giving a speech at a wedding or other professional or social situations can send our panic levels spiralling.
A fear of public speaking can even affect those whose jobs require them to speak to a crowd, such as teachers and actors.
Hypnotherapy can help calm your mind, regain a sense of perspective and, where needed, eliminate any triggers in your past that could be causing this phobia.
How a fear of public speaking makes people feel

Feeling nervous about public speaking is normal for most people, but for some, the reality of it can impact them physically, mentally and emotionally.
Although it’s not clear why some people get anxious about it, in other cases, it can be traced back to a specific event or trauma. Whatever the reason, the symptoms are the same.
People who feel anxious or stressed often experience a dry mouth and throat, a racing heartbeat, and a flushed face. They may also sweat a lot, and their voice might crack while speaking, no matter how many deep breaths they take to try and stay calm.
In the weeks and days before the public speaking event is due to happen, they may have struggled to sleep and experienced anticipatory anxiety as the combination of dread and fear grows.
Finally, if, despite all their practice, they forget their words or lose track of what they’re saying, their stress levels will increase, they may become teary and upset, while their confidence plummets.
How hypnotherapy can help you speak confidently
Although many people can suffer with the same problems, every person I work with is treated individually, and we begin with an initial consultation to determine your specific needs.
Once I have gathered enough information about what you want to achieve, I design a personalised treatment programme using (but not limited to) the following tools:
- Building confidence and self esteem
- Calming the nervous system and reducing panic attacks
- Releasing from anticipatory anxiety and overthinking
- Releasing from catastrophising
- Process the phobia (if the fear is phobia related)
- Releasing from worrying about what other people think
- Releasing from getting caught up in the physical symptoms
- Being able to access the clear thinking mind and clear speaking voice in the moment
- Positive visualisation of presenting/public speaking confidently
How many public speaking hypnotherapy sessions will I need?
Hypnotherapy works quickly and is an incredibly effective treatment.
Each client is assessed individually but I usually recommend at least 3 to 4 sessions, as repetition is the key to overcoming it. Depending on the underlying causes for your fear, more may be needed.
What to expect from a public speaking hypnotherapy session
We start by having a conversation about your goals and progress. I then use tools such as deep breathing exercises and body relaxation techniques to gently guide you to a deep relaxed state while you are lying down on a couch.
While you are in this relaxed state of mind, I use effective techniques and positive suggestions that allow the subconscious and conscious mind, as well as the nervous system, to change their responses to public speaking situations.
The effective techniques I use during hypnotherapy will allow you release from fears, anxieties and limiting beliefs that were holding you back and instead be able to feel so much more confident while speaking in front of others.
