What are Hypnotic Inductions?

Hypnotic inductions are procedures we use to help the client move into a hypnotic state.  They generally include a series of instructions and suggestions that focus attention inwards and aid relaxation.

In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy we usually start with breathing and progressive muscle relaxation to help you move into a relaxed state.

We also use reverse counting to to help deepen the trance state.  Techniques include using mental imagery to slowly guide the client down a set of stairs, counting backwards from 10 to zero.

Metaphors are excellent tools to induce the hypnotic state as they help bypass conscious or unconscious resistance.  Additionally we can use a visualisation of your ‘happy place’ such as the beach or mountains.
